Jika yang mengucapkan salam adalah musuh kejam, munafik yang berpura pura baik maka jawabannya adalah:
“Wa ‘alaikumus Saam”
(Dan untuk mu adalah racun dan kebinasaan).

1. KALIMAT SALAM:
Sahabat Rasulullah SAW bernama Abu Hurairah RA menuturkan bahwa:
لما خلق الله ادم ونفخ فيه الروح، عطس.
فقال: الحمد لله، فحمد الله باذنه.
فقال له ربه:
رحمك الله يا ادم، اذهب الى اولك الملائكة الى ملاء منهم جلوس
فقال: السلام عليكم
قالوا: وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله.
ثم رجع الى ربه.
فقال: ان هذه تحيتك وتحية بينك وبينهم.
( رواه الترمذى )
Artinya:
“Tatkala Allah SWT Menciptakan Adam, dan meniupkan Ruh kepadanya, Adam BERSIN, lalu mengucapkan ALHAMDU LI LLAAH.
Adam memuji Allah, berkat izin dan perkenan Allah.
Dijawab oleh Allah:
“Rahimakallaah yaa Adam” (Allah Merahmatimu Adam). Dan pergilah engkau Adam kepada para Malaikat yang di antara mereka ada yang sedang duduk duduk, lalu, ucapkanlah;
“Assalaamu ‘Alaiikum”.
Para Malaikat pun menjawab:
“Wa ‘Alaikumus Salaam Wa Rahmatullaah”.
Setelah mengucapkan Salam, Adam kembali kepada Tuhan nya. Dan Tuhan Menyampaikan:
“Itulah Salam penghormatan keturunanmu di antara mereka”.

At Tirmidzi).
2. TITIP SALAM:
Untuk menjaga Silatur Rahim, meski berjarak dan tidak bisa ketemu, Salam bisa dititipkan.
Kebiasaan titip Salam ini, telah dilakukan sejak zaman Rasulullah SAW.
Malaikat Jibril, titip salam melalui Rasulullah SAW untuk Ummil Mukminiin Aisyah RA, karena Aisyah RA tidak melihat Jibril. Ini menunjukkan bagaimana penghormatan yang diberikan Jibril kepada Aisyah RA.
Aisyah RA menuturkan:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم:
يَا عَائِشَةُ هَذَا جِبْرِيلُ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكِ السَّلاَمَ. فَقُلْتُ وَعَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ يَرَى مَا لاَ أَرَى.
Artinya:
Rasulullah SAW mengatakan:
“Wahai Aisyah, ini Jibril, beliau menyampaikan Salam untukmu.”
Aku jawab, ‘Wa ‘alaihis Salaam wa Rahmatullaah.’
Rasulullah SAW melihat apa yang tidak saya lihat”.
(Hadits Sahih Riwayat Al Imam Al Bukhari 3217 dan Muslim 6457).
Bagaimana Cara Menjawab Salam Titipan ?
Ada dua cara membalas Salam titipan:
– Pertama;
Membalas Salam untuk orang yang menitipkan Salam:
Kita ucapkan;
“Wa ‘Alaika wa ‘Alaihis Salaam”
(Untukmu dan untuknya balasan Salam).
Sebagaimana dicontohkan oleh Aisyah RA berdasarkan Hadits Rasulullah SAW, diriwayatkan oleh Al Imam Ahmad, ketika Aisyah RA mendapat Salam dari Jibril, beliau menjawabnya:
عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
“Untukmu dan untuknya balasan Salam wa Rahmatullaahi w
Wa Barakaatuh”.
(Hadits Sahih Riwayat Al Imam Ahmad 24857).
– Kedua;
Bisa juga membalas titipan Salam hanya untuk orang yang menitipkan Salam.
Sebagaimana jawaban Aisyah RA dalam riwayat Al Imam Al Bukhari dan Muslim sbb:
وَعَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ
(Untuknya balasan Salam Dan
Rahmat Allah).
Para Ulama menjelaskan, titipan Salam semacam ini wajib dijawab sesegera mungkin, dan diucapkan secara lisan.
Al Imam An-Nawawi menjelaskan bahwa Hadits Aisyah RA di atas:
وهذا الرد واجب على الفور وكذا لو بلغه سلام في ورقة من غائب لزمه أن يرد السلام عليه باللفظ على الفور إذا قرأه
Artinya:
“Menjawab Salam titipan ini, hukumnya WAJIB dan segera. Demikian pula jika dia mendapat Salam tertulis melalui surat, dari orang yang berada di kejauhan, wajib dia jawab secara lisan segera ketika dia membacanya atau dijawab juga secara tertulis”.
(Ref.: Kitab Syarah Sahih Muslim, 15/211)
Orang yang menerima Salam titipan ini, baik Salam titipan lisan maupun Salam tertulis atau dalam surat, juga Salam di SMS atau E-mail, dia wajib menjawabnya dengan mengucapkan secara lisan:
Wa ‘alaikumus salaam.
Dan jangan lupa ditambahkan Huruf “Wawu” ketika menjawab.
Kita ucapkan ‘Wa ‘alaihis salam’.
Kata ‘Wa’ perlu diucapkan, bahkan sebagian Ulama Senior mewajibkan menambahkan kata Wa.
Al Imam An-Nawawi, menambahkan:
وفيه أنه يستحب في الرد أن يقول وعليك أو وعليكم السلام بالواو فلو قال عليكم السلام أو عليكم أجزأه على الصحيح وكان تاركا للأفضل وقال بعض أصحابنا لا يجزئه
Dalam Hadits tersebut di atas, ada anjuran untuk menjawab Salam dengan mengucapkan ‘Wa alaika’ atau ‘Wa alaikum’ dengan mencantumkan kata ‘Wa’.
Sekiranya, hanya mengucapkan ‘Alaikumus Salaam’ atau ‘Alaikum’ saja, dibolehkan, hanya saja, meninggalkan cara menjawab Salam yang lebih Afdol.
Namun, sebagian Ulama dari Mazhab Syafi’iyah mengatakan, bahwa:
‘Tidak sah dengan jawaban tanpa Wa.’
(Ref.: Kitab Syarah Shahih Muslim, 15/211).

1. Demikianlah, awal mula susunan kalimat Salam dalam Islam, dan sejarah titipan Salam.
2. Usahakan selalu memulai memberi salam terlebih dahulu.
Salam adalah ibadah sekaligus doa, dan pahala dan doanya akan kembali kepada yang memberi Salam.
3. Malaikat selalu mendampingi kita, dan mencatat semua aktifitas kita, mengaminkan doa doa kita, dan juga mendoakan agar doa kita untuk orang lain dapat pula kita peroleh.
Semoga Allah SWT senantiasa mengijabah doa doa kita, dan menganugerahkan kita kemampuan rajin memberi Salam.
